Weekday Coffee with Glebe LocalsPoor / Disadvantaged
Come have a tea/coffee chat with Glebe’s locals experiencing hardship at St John’s Community Garden. Every Monday and Wednesday, volunteers help by welcoming and chatting with neighbours waiting to be served through St John’s Glebe’s financial assistance program, called GAPP. It is a communal setting — hospitable volunteers are desired to help welcome people.
If you’d like to bring snacks, they would be very welcome! Cakes, biscuits, fruit are usual food items at GAPP. GAPP services predominantly people from government housing in Glebe and surrounding areas. They include men, women and children, and people experiencing anxiety and other conditions. Each client may sit and have coffee for about 20-30 minutes. Associate Minister Darcy Vaughan will be there to welcome volunteers, and will be around to check in and debrief as needed. Praying with people is encouraged.
